Libby Earle Henry

Libby is a native Kentuckian with roots in the urban setting of Louisville as well as the insular farming community of Lincoln County. Both of these places play an indelible role in Libby’s memoir.

In writing this book, the author was released from the shadows of shame she had lived under for much of her life as a result of her tumultuous childhood, and later, being the wife of a white-collar criminal. These conditions informed many of Libby’s life choices and placing it all under close examination gave her a certain clarity that she might not otherwise have achieved. She says, “So many people are vulnerable to familial abuse, whether within their family of origin, marriage, or other close relationships. Hopefully my story will serve as a cautionary tale, and if that’s the case, then my book will have served its purpose.”
